Brigadier General Zakia Hussein’s tenure as the Deputy Commissioner of the Somali Police Force (SPF) has come to an end.
Brig. Gen. Hussein made history when she became the first woman to serve as the second in command of the police force.
She was one of two deputy commissioners.
However, that now changes as a new deputy police commissioner has been appointed.
The officer taking over from Brig. Gen. Hussein, in an announcement made on Tuesday, is Abdalla Abdalla.
His appointment now means that the police force has no senior woman officer at the top.
All the top three positions are occupied by male officers.
