The government of Somaliland confirmed that a Chinese man diagnosed with leukemia blood cancer was cremated in Hargeisa.
Residents of Xeedho in North Hargeisa said they saw the body of a foreigner burned in a local cemetery.
They now fear that the manner the cremation was conducted could be a health risk to them.
Consequently, the residents have appealed to President Musa Bihi Abdi to intervene in the affair for their wellbeing.
The residents also indicate that police officers sent them fleeing from the area when they gathered to find out what was happening.
The body of the Chinese man was burned at Xeedho’s dry river valley, which is one of the region’s main sources of water.
