Commerce Minister Meets Mogadishu Business Leaders; Promotes Industrial Development

MOGADISHU — The Minister of Commerce and Industry for the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Jamaal Mohamed Hassan, convened a meeting with key business figures from the Benadir region to discuss the future of the nation’s commercial landscape.

The discussions focused on identifying persistent obstacles to business growth and creating favorable conditions for sustainable investment.

Participants examined approaches to foster a business atmosphere that attracts capital and simplifies regulatory procedures for both local and foreign commerce. A key focus was placed on developing methods to strengthen local production and increase exports, thereby supporting local businesses and decreasing the nation’s reliance on imports.

Government Commitment

Minister Hassan addressed the attendees, expressing the Federal Government’s dedication to working closely with private enterprises. He noted that the Ministry is actively focused on developing policies that meet the business community’s requirements.

“This cooperation is crucial for advancing the country’s industrial progress and supporting overall economic recovery,” the Minister noted.

Private Sector Role

Representatives from the Benadir business community underscored their significant role in the national economy, particularly regarding employment and revenue generation. They outlined specific possibilities for government-private sector collaboration, with a special emphasis on improving import-export logistics.
