The number of COVID-19 cases in Somalia has risen to 6,444.
Somalia’s Ministry of Health announced the new numbers on February 23 after it had tested 823 samples.
Out of those samples, the health ministry diagnosed 198 new patients with the deadly virus.
Furthermore, the ministry stated that 190 of the cases were recorded in Banadir, which appears to be the epicenter of the second wave of the virulent disease in the East African nation.
The health ministry also announced that 118 of the new cases were male while the remaining 80 were female.
Seven more patients succumbed to the disease thus bringing the tally of deaths to 215.
Recoveries have now increased slightly to 3,781 from the 3,778 that were recorded as of February 22.
The health ministry continues to warn Somalis to observe the COVID-19 protocols to curb the spread of the deadly disease around the nation.
