CPJ Africa Urges Somalia’s Southwest State to Stop Threatening Local Media House

Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) Africa has called upon Somalia’s Southwest State to stop threatening a local media house.

CPJ Africa joined hands with Somali Journalists Syndicate (SJS) in urging authorities in the Southwest state to desist from threatening Arlaadi Media Network (AMN).

AMN mostly broadcasts in the Maay dialect.

Lately, local authorities have been intimidating, arresting, and threatening AMN journalists.

Further, Southwest authorities have written to the federal Ministry of Information calling for legal actions against AMN.

CPJ and SJS issued a joint statement through the Somali Mechanism of the Safety of Journalists (SMJS).
