Deni and Madobe Deny being Responsible for Polls Talk Collapse

Jubbaland’s President Ahmed Islam Madobe and Puntland’s President Said Abdullahi Deni have denied claims that they were responsible for the collapse of polls talks.

On April 7, the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) issued a statement laying the blame for the polls talk collapse at the feet of Deni and Madobe.

However, Deni and Madobe spoke on this issue later on Wednesday.

Instead, they pointed an accusing finger at Villa Somalia.

In their view, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s administration deliberately dragged its feet on the electoral talks by advancing predetermined agenda.

Jubbaland and Puntland administrations both mentioned that Deni and Madobe have been in Mogadishu for the last three weeks for the electoral talks.

Furthermore, Puntland stated that it is not aware the talks have collapse.

Abdullahi Hirsi, Puntland’s Minister of Information, said that Deni’s administration is not aware of any failed talks.

Puntland and Jubbaland issued a joint statement saying that the talks were ongoing.
