The Dispute Resolutions Committee has suspended the recent election of the Acting Director of National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) as a lawmaker.
Yasin Farey, the NISA Director, had won elections to represent the regional state of Galmudug in the House of the People (Lower House).
On November 28, the disputes committee released a statement in which it urged the Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET) not to declare Farey the winner, yet.
It urged FIET to hold on to the results for the next seven (7) days when it hopes to have delivered its final verdict on the matter.
Farey’s candidature and eventual election had been the subject of much protests from politicians and clan elders in Galmudug.
Meanwhile, the Dispute Resolutions Committee has confirmed the election of Mahdi Gulaid, the Deputy Prime Minister, as a Somaliland MP in the Lower House.
