While all relevant actors are trying to convince donors and the Somali business community to focus on the victims of yesterday’s attack and to provide emergency assistance, more people are now openly criticising the government for failing to provide security. Among them, Thabit Abdi Mohamed who is the former Mayor of Mogadishu and former Governor of Benadir. In his interview with Dalsan TV, and after he conveyed his condolences, he was quoted saying: "the security strategy is not implemented properly" and that "government should revisit the security strategy" He also said that the government should take action and hold the responsible officials accountable. The Forum for National Parties in its statement also criticised the government and advised the FGS to abandon its current and “failed” security strategy, that has caused thousands Somalis to lose their lives due to “preventable” attacks. One of the official that Somali citizens are heavily criticizing is the Police Chief, Abdi Hassan Hijaar, who was caught on camera while whispering to the mayor, repeatedly (8 times) not share the number of deaths, as the mayor was about the start the a press conference at the scene of the attack. 🚨SHOCKING🚨: Microphones catch #Somalia police chief repeatedly ordering the Mayor of #Mogadishu to withhold the number of dead in today's massive blast from local press. #Somalia pic.twitter.com/45FdENVuxe — Guurtii (@Gahayr2020) December 28, 2019 Somalis around the globe are also sharing their anger at the Members of Parliament who continued the voting on the heavily disputed National Electoral Law, as people were rushing to the scene to provide first aid assistance and transportation to the hospitals. Some interpret this, as a sign that the current administration has prioritized the voting and was not willing to risk a delay and shift in how MPs may vote. While they're voting 76 & counting hardworking Somalis lost their lives, they raised their hands 2 vote something that will benefit them. What's the rush. Real Somali, Muslim or any sane human would stop what they're doing & rush to the scene but NO there r more important things. pic.twitter.com/nuawPyxie3 — Aato (@AbdisalamAato) December 28, 2019 Must watch for those that want to make sense of Somalia. Per @Abukar_Arman more people have been killed by Al Shabab during the term of this government than all previous government combined. https://t.co/jqn5JpM1sa — Adam (@adancabdulle) December 29, 2019 Remove Villa Somalia & the parliament from Mogadishu and let the corrupted politicians hide somewhere far from innocent people.
