Ex-President Ahmed Commends Southwest for Commitment to National Elections

Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, a former President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, has commended Southwest State for demonstrating its commitment towards national elections.

Ex-President Ahmed spoke on August 2 after Southwest became the second Federal Member State (FMS) to conduct senatorial elections.

Jubaland was the first FMS region to hold similar elections.

The two states have now kickstarted the intense period of electioneering that’s scheduled to last at least a month throughout the East African nation.

During his message on Monday, ex-President Ahmed also congratulated the newly elected senators from Southwest State.
