President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo met with Amina J. Mohammed, the United Nations Secretary General, to discuss Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Farmaajo’s meeting with the UN Deputy Secretary General took place on September 12 at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu.
Amina Mohammed led a high-level delegation from the UN to the meeting.
The UN has been supportive of Somalia’s SDGs.
Somalia, just as is the case with other members of the UN, is a signatory to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
During their Sunday meeting, Farmaajo and Mohammed also discussed the upcoming elections in the East African nation.
They also talked about the increasing involvement of women in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
This year, Somalia has reinforced the need to implement the 30 percent increased quota of women representation in the Upper House and Lower House.
