President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of Somalia held a night meeting with leaders of Federal Member States (FMS) perceived to be friendlier to his administration.
The meeting took place approximately two weeks before the Second Dhusamareb Talks between Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and FMS.
On Sunday night, he met with three FMS leaders at Villa Somalia.
According to a report by insiders, Farmaajo met with HirShabelle’s President Mohamed Abdi Waare and Southwest’s President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta-Gareen.
Additionally, reports indicate that President Ahmed Kariye Qoorqoor of the Galmudug state also attended the Villa Somalia meeting.
Qoorqoor hosted the First Dhusamareb Talks, which immediate former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire also attended.
Fahad Yasin, the Director General of National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), was at the Villa Somalia meeting as well.
The three FMS leaders present at the meeting are reported to have won their respective elections with the support of Farmaajo’s administration.
The remaining FMS leaders who were not at the meeting are perceived to be some of Farmaajo’s biggest critics.
They are President Ahmed Madobe of Jubbaland and President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland.
