President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has sacked the Deputy Mayor of Mogadishu on Saturday, November 14.
Farmaajo appointed Ali Yare, one of his most ardent supporters on social media, as a new Deputy Mayor.
Yare also served as a member of Farmaajo’s presidential campaign team.
A communiqué from the Office of the President in Villa Somalia said that Yare is the new Deputy in charge of Political and Security Affairs.
Farmaajo made the appointment as the end of his first term in office draws near.
He is expected to join other candidates from the opposition to vie for the presidential ticket in February 2021.
