Mohamed Hassan Irro, the Chairman of the Federal Elections Indirect Team (FEIT) is under immense pressure to resign.
Different stakeholders have pointed out the intense rigging that’s taking place in the ongoing House of the People (Lower House) elections in Somalia.
There have been reports of rigging in many places.
Complaints regarding delays and manipulation of the results have also emerged.
Elders from the Mudulood clan, which dominates Mogadishu and the surrounding areas, complained of this issue on Sunday, November 28.
The elders also accused Irro of being President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s tool.
They claimed that President Farmaajo is using Irro to rig the elections to have as many of his allies as possible in the Lower House.
The elders urged Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble to keep his promise of delivering fair, credible, and transparent elections.
