In the past week, heavy rains have caused floods that destroyed numerous farmlands across the Middle Shabelle region.
Authorities have listed two of the worst affected areas in the region as Jowhar and Balad.
Moreover, authorities believe that in the next few days HirShabelle would have been submerged under floodwaters if the situation does not improve.
Further, the main road that connects the region to Mogadishu is also likely to be cut off thus affecting transportation.
In the meantime, locals are encouraged to move to higher places to reduce the likelihood of being swept away by the floods.
