Two international airlines have complied with a recent directive from Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) regarding the inclusion of “Somaliland” in their advertisements.
Fly Dubai and Ethiopian Airlines have removed the term “Somaliland” from their websites following a warning from the SCAA.
The aviation body issued an ultimatum that the airlines had to comply with by August 24, 2024.
SCAA threatened to ban them from Somalia’s airspace if they did not adhere to the directive.
This action highlights Somalia’s stance on maintaining its territorial integrity.
It further underscores the ongoing sensitivity surrounding the status of Somaliland.
Somalia insists that Somaliland, which declares itself as an independent state, its territory.
Somaliland continues seeking but not yet receiving any international recognition as an independent state.
