Galmudug and Southwest Leaders Lead Efforts to Reconcile Farmaajo and Roble

The regional state leaders of Galmudug and Southwest have been leading behind-the-scenes efforts to reconcile President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.

For several months now, Farmaajo and Roble have not been seeing eye-to-eye on many issues.

In the last week, their differences played out in public domain after the Prime Minister sacked two senior officials of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

First, Roble sacked Fahad Yasin, who was the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).

He followed this up by sending Hassan Hundubey Jimale home.

Jimale had been the Minister of Internal Security.

Roble took these measures over the recent disappearance and murder of Ikran Tahlil, a young female NISA agent.

Farmaajo has rubbished both sackings, which he calls “unconstitutional and illegal.”

Last weekend, President Abdiaziz Laftagareen of Galmudug and President Ahmed Qoorqoor of Southwest worked hard to bring the two national leaders together.

They first met with the Prime Minister before meeting with President Farmaajo later.
