Mogadishu, Somalia – Somalia’s Federal Migration and Citizenship Office has welcomed the German Federal Government’s official decision to recognize the Somali Diplomatic Passport for entry and residence. The decision appeared in the German federal gazette on December 1, 2025, representing a key advancement in bilateral relations.
The new policy enables holders of the Somali Diplomatic Passport to enter and stay in Germany with full official validity, succeeding earlier practices where the document received recognition only upon exit from Germany. This progress signals rising trust in Somalia’s improved travel documentation and reform initiatives.
The step is regarded as solid support for the Somali government’s initiatives to update migration and identification services, elevate the standard of national travel documents, and streamline movement between the countries.
Somalia’s Federal Migration and Citizenship Office praised Germany’s constructive action and voiced optimism that it will enhance passport recognition and identification frameworks among partner nations.
