Berlin, Germany – Somalia’s Federal Migration and Citizenship Office has welcomed the German Federal Government’s official decision to recognize the Somali diplomatic passport for entry and residence. The decision appeared in the German Federal Gazette on 1 December 2025, representing a key milestone in bilateral relations.
The new policy allows holders of Somali diplomatic passports to enter and stay in Germany with complete official recognition, superseding prior arrangements where the document was recognized only upon exit from Germany. This step indicates rising trust in Somalia’s improved travel documentation and reform efforts.
The decision affirms the Somali government’s work to update migration and identification services, elevate the standard of national travel documents, and ease movement between the two nations.
