The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has warned the public about the dangers of sealed metal barrels found on a beach in Middle Shabelle.
The government, through the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, issued a press release on the matter.
As per the press release, the ministry urged the public not to touch the barrels. Instead, it urged them to wait for ministry officials to inspect the barrels first.
Furthermore, the ministry added that it had already assigned a team of experts to inspect the barrels found at Cadale Beach in Middle Shabelle.
It promised to check the contents of the barrels and determine their associated hazards first before issuing further instructions.
In the meantime, the area where the barrels were found remains closed to members of the public until further notice.
