The new President of HirShabelle State has traveled to Mogadishu for a meeting with senior officials of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
While in Mogadishu, President Ali Abdullahi Hussein Guudlawe is scheduled to hold a series of discussions on the Beledweyne issue.
President Guudlawe arrived in Mogadishu on January 8, 2021.
Omar Filish, the Mayor of Mogadishu who also serves as the Governor of Benadir Region, welcomed Guudlawe and his delegation at the Aden Adde International Airport on Friday.
Several cabinet ministers in FGS and Members of Parliament (MPs) were at the airport to welcome Guudlawe too.
The visit was Guudlawe’s first since he was elected as the President of HirShabelle in November 2020.
In recent past, Beledweyne has been under frequent protests with several local residents displeased with the outcome of last year’s elections.
