Abshir Omar Jama Huruse has resigned from his position as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Huruse announced this resignation on Monday.
While making the announcement, Huruse indicated that he had to step down to get enough time to prepare for the presidential elections in the regional state of Puntland.
Huruse is one of the frontrunners for the seat.
He handed over his letter of resignation to Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
Huruse has been the foreign affairs minister for close to a year now under the leadership of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the Prime Minister.
