Representatives of Somalia’s international partners have expressed their disappointment at the collapse of the country’s electoral talks.
Since April 3, the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) have been discussing ways of resolving electoral crisis in the country.
They have been meeting in Mogadishu.
However, on April 7, FGS announced that the talks had collapsed. FGS blamed Jubbaland and Puntland for the collapse.
On Thursday, a section of the international partners warned Somalia’s politicians over the collapse.
James Swan, the United Nations Special Representative to Somalia, led the international partners in expressing disappointment over the latest turn of events.
He held a meeting with three regional state leaders who are quite close to Villa Somalia.
Swan held the meeting with HirShabelle’s Ali Guudlaawe, Southwest’s Abdiaziz Hassan Laftagareen, and Galmudug’s Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor.
In the meeting, he told them that the international partners would not accept the talks collapse.
Swan is now expected to hold similar meeting with Puntland’s Said Abdullahi Deni and Jubbaland’s Ahmed Islam Madobe.
