The regional state of Jubbaland has announced that elections for 16 federal parliamentary seats would take place in the next two weeks.
Jubbaland was unable to conclude elections for the remaining House of the People (Lower House) seats by the March 15 deadline.
Mostly, this was due to the region’s inability to hold elections in Garbaharey.
Garbaharey is Jubbaland’s second voting center after Kismayo.
Unfortunately, Garbaharey is full of tension and conflicts that make it incapable of holding elections.
Jubbaland’s State Elections Implementation Team (SEIT) announced the new elections timeline on Tuesday.
