Kenya has exported miraa worth more than $8.36 million to Somalia in the last three weeks.
Felix Mutwiri, the Chairperson of the Miraa Pyrethrum and Other Industrial Crops, issued these numbers on August 16.
According to Mutwiri, the numbers could be much higher if not for the fact that Kenya is only allowed to export 19 tons of miraa to Somalia per day.
Kenya resumed its miraa exports to Somalia less than a month ago.
Previously, the Somali government had banned the importation of miraa from Kenya. The ban lasted for around two years.
Mutwiri said that Kenyan farmers and traders had exported 375 tons of miraa to Somalia in the last three weeks.
