Kenya is to deploy a new Consular General to the breakaway nation of Somaliland in the next few days.
Ababu Namwamba, Kenya’s Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed this news on April 22.
Namwamba was speaking during the induction of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Members of Parliament (MPs).
The Thursday event also served as the induction ceremony of the new Secretary General of the East African Community Secretariat.
With this move, Kenya becomes the sixth nation to establish new diplomatic missions in Somaliland.
Other countries that have opened representative offices in Somaliland include Taiwan, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, Ethiopia, and Djibouti.
