Kulmiye Should be Prosecuted for Holding Night Rally with Armed Supporters

The Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) has called on security agencies to promptly take legal measures against individuals who attended the Kulmiye Party’s nighttime rally while armed.

NEC issued the call during a press conference in Hargeisa on Tuesday.

This action comes as part of the NEC’s broader warning to the Kulmiye Party and its supporters, cautioning against behaviors that could undermine public safety and electoral processes.

The NEC emphasized the importance of adhering to legal standards to ensure a secure environment as Somaliland moves toward upcoming elections.

The campaign period is officially on as Somaliland gets ready to hold presidential and parliamentary polls on November 13, 2024.
