Local Somali National Army (SNA) forces based in El-dher district, located in Somalia’s central Galgaduud region, carried out a successful coordinated offensive on Tuesday targeting Kharijite militant positions. The operation focused on two key strongholds—Ali Andhole and Barag Sheikh Abdullahi—which had served as strategic bases for the group’s operations in the area.
According to security sources, more than 10 militants were killed in the fierce assault, which also led to the dismantling of a major terrorist command base believed to have been used for planning attacks across the region. The operation, supported by intelligence gathered from local communities, marks a significant blow to the militant network’s presence in Galgaduud.
Officials praised the bravery and coordination of the local forces, emphasizing that the offensive is part of a broader campaign to liberate rural areas from extremist control and restore peace and stability in central Somalia.
