House of the People (Lower House) legislators elected a 10-member committee to organize elections for the speaker’s seat.
The appointment of the committee is crucial in preparing the ground for the election of the Speaker of the Lower House.
Without a duly elected Speaker in place, members of the Lower House would be unable to participate in the election of the country’s president.
The legislators were meeting for the first time since winning their elections and taking their oaths of office.
They took their oaths of office on Thursday, April 14.
The 10-member committee prepares elections for not only the Speaker but also the Deputy Speakers of the Lower House.
