Jubbaland President Celebrates Aviation Progress on ICAO Day

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Acting President and Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, led a significant ceremony in Mogadishu to mark International Civil Aviation Day.

The occasion highlighted important accomplishments Somalia has made in reclaiming and overseeing its airspace.

During his speech, the Acting President thanked the leadership and employees of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) and the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation for their committed work in regaining complete authority over the nation’s skies.

Speaker Madobe commended the Somali specialists and professionals currently overseeing the airspace, recognizing their expertise and dedication. He encouraged the ministry and authority leadership to focus on workforce development, particularly requesting ongoing and specialized training programs for personnel to guarantee the organization stays competitive and able to meet global standards.

Regarding legislation, Sheikh Madobe mentioned that the House of the People has already passed essential laws intended to strengthen the Civil Aviation Authority.

He restated parliament’s dedication to the sector, indicating that the legislature is prepared to consider and approve additional regulations required to update and enhance civil aviation activities.
