Ninety-Seven Somalis Diagnosed with Cholera at Benadir Hospital in March

Ninety-seven Somalis were diagnosed with cholera in March.

A delegation from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) visiting the Benadir Regional Hospital learnt this.

The UNICEF team learnt that 300 patients were admitted at the hospital in the same month.

They were diagnosed with acute watery diarrhea.

Out of that number, 97 had cholera.

The UNICEF delegation reassured medics at the hospital of their support to not only treat but also prevent cholera from spreading any further.

Close to 5,000 Somalis have been diagnosed with the disease since the beginning of the year.
