The Director of National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) attempted to hold a meeting with President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland today.
Reports indicate that Fahad Yasin, Somalia’s intelligence chief, attempted to meet Deni at his official residence in the country’s capital on Friday.
Yasin is one of the closest confidants of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Republic of Somalia (FGS).
Deni and Jubbaland’s President Ahmed Islam Madobe are both in Mogadishu for a meeting with Farmaajo on the upcoming elections in Somalia.
Nevertheless, Yasin’s attempts failed after Deni told him he had not booked an appointment to visit the Puntland leader.
The much-reported meeting between Deni, Madobe, and Farmaajo failed to take place as scheduled earlier this week.
Yasin might have been trying to convince Deni to convince Madobe to lower some of his demands to allow the meeting to proceed.
