Reports from Mogadishu indicate that the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) raided two offices belonging to Hormuud Telecom.
NISA officers raided the Hormuud offices in the nation’s capital on Monday.
The reasons for the raid remain unknown.
However, it follows a recent request by NISA for Hormuud to provide financial details of some of its customers.
Hormuud refused to comply with the request.
According to Hormuud, such a request would have been a breach of the law. The firm is not ready to disclose customers’ information to third parties.
The raid by NISA forced Hormuud to halt its services after the spy agency detained some of its staff.
