An opposition presidential candidate has hailed Thursday’s swearing-in ceremony as the moment Somalia “overcame a constitutional crisis.”
Abdirahman Abdishakur, who is interested in taking over from Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo as the new Somalia president, commended the swearing-in ceremony that took place on April 14.
Newly-elected federal parliamentarians from the House of the People (Lower House) and Senate (Upper House) took part in the ceremony.
According to Abdishakur, who is also the leader of the Wadajir Party, Somalia has overcome the “dictatorial ambitions” of President Farmaajo.
Abdishakur also joins the House of the People as a federal parliamentarian after winning his elections.
