One of the leading opposition parties in Somalia has hit out at the ongoing media restrictions in the country.
The Himilo Qaran expressed its deep concern at the growing trend of imposing unimaginable restrictions over the media and journalists in Somalia.
It cited the rights and freedoms that the Transitional Constitution of Somalia guarantees in Articles 18 and 32.
The party added that authorities in the country cannot deny the media and journalists their rights and freedoms.
Himilo Qaran issued this statement in the wake of recent complaints by the local media on the intimidation and censorship it faces from authorities.
