Over 200,000 Residents of Jubbaland Exposed to Unsafe Drinking Water

More than 200,000 residents of the regional state of Jubbaland are exposed to unsafe drinking water.

A report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) shows the dire situation facing them.

The OCHA report adds that the situation arose after the recent El Nino rains damaged 89 of the 99 water sources in various parts of Jubbaland.

Consequently, the sources are no longer functional.

Funding constraints have made the situation untenable for hundreds of thousands.

The entire situation has destroyed sanitation options for residents too, especially those residing in the camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
