PM Barre Highlights Somalia’s Aviation Advances on International Day

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has congratulated the Somali people and aviation sector on International Civil Aviation Day.

The Prime Minister emphasized the significant achievements Somalia has accomplished in reclaiming its airspace, enhancing flight safety, and broadening international flight connections.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Barre stated that this occasion provides a chance to recognize the accomplishments in revitalizing Somalia’s civil aviation industry.

He stressed that the re-establishment of these services has been instrumental in promoting economic development and stability, demonstrating the country’s ability to reconstruct and oversee vital infrastructure.

A key achievement highlighted was Somalia attaining Class A status in Air Navigation Services during 2023. This designation signifies the highest level of safety and operational excellence in air traffic management, marking a significant achievement that validates Somalia’s capability to govern its airspace alongside leading countries worldwide.

The Prime Minister praised the commitment of personnel at the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) and the Ministry of Transport, whose work has revitalized the industry from a non-functional state to an operational and globally accepted system.

With ongoing airport modernization and aviation expansion efforts, the federal government reiterated its dedication to preserving these quality benchmarks and enhancing Somalia’s integration into the worldwide aviation community.
