President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud led the funeral prayer held in honor of a prominent Somali peace activist who passed away on May 28.
Professor Abdullahi Mohamed Shirwa passed away in Mogadishu on Saturday night.
His body was transported to Somalia for the burial, which took place a day later on Sunday.
Apart from President Mohamud, other prominent Somali leaders also attended Prof. Shirwa’s burial.
These included Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
Senate (Upper House) Speaker Abdi Hashi also attended the funeral.
Several dignitaries representing the Somali Civil Society as well as peace and humanitarian organizations were at Prof. Shirwa’s burial too.
