President Mohamud Warns Against Foreign Meddling in Somalia

Mogadishu, Somalia – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has accused unnamed foreign actors of fueling Somalia’s political fragmentation, warning that their interference risks “failed diplomacy” and undermines national unity.

Speaking at the launch of the National Dialogue in Mogadishu, the President called for robust international support to bolster Somalia’s state-building and reconciliation efforts.

Rejecting accusations of a power grab, President Mohamud defended his administration’s push for constitutional reforms and a shift to direct, one-person-one-vote elections.

He also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the fight against terrorist groups and pledged to continue inclusive political dialogue.

“Our goal is unity, not division,” he declared, adding that Somalia’s future depends on stable institutions, not foreign agendas.
