Puntland Leader Reshuffles His Administration

The leader of the regional state of Puntland has made massive changes to his administration.

President Said Abdullahi Deni reshuffled his administration by making sweeping changes over the weekend.

He started by reshuffling the structure of the police force.

This follows recent skirmishes in the region over the past few days.

Last week’s clashes in Garowe left dozens of people dead and many others nursing their injuries.

In the changes, Mohamed Ali Ahmed becomes the new chief of the Nugaal police. Mohamed Hussein takes over as the commandant of Gardafu police.

Sanaag police will now be under the leadership of Gen. Adan Ahmed Ali.

Furthermore, he also abolished various positions and offices occupied by people who are sympathetic to the opposition.

Puntland has witnessed a rise in political tension over the recent weeks.

The reason for this is the overwhelming belief that President Deni wants to extend his term in office.
