Roble Leads Discussions on Rising COVID-19 Cases in Somalia

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble led his colleagues from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) in discussing the rising cases of COVID-19 in Somalia.

On February 23, he chaired two meetings on this growing problem.

Over the last month, Somalia has witnessed a drastic rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Consequently, the Ministry of Health has warned the country of resurgence of the virulent disease.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has now exceeded 6,440.

Furthermore, the country’s death toll is over 208.

Prime Minister Roble urged the public to adhere to the protocols recommended by the health ministry and the World Health Organization (WHO) to curb the spread of the disease.

This week, the government ordered all schools and universities closed for two weeks to contain the spread of the disease.

Additionally, it also banned all large gatherings with immediate effect.

De Martini Hospital, arguably Somalia’s best equipped hospital for treating COVID-19 patients, is currently overwhelmed.
