Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble held a meeting with members of the Somaliland Indirect Election Commission (SIET) in Mogadishu.
Roble’s meeting with the SIET commissioners took place on Wednesday, August 3 in Mogadishu.
During the meeting, Roble assured them that a new chairman would be elected to lead the commission during the ongoing elections.
His meeting with the SIET membership followed discussions that he held with Upper House Speaker Abdi Hashi and Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Gulaid.
In his discussions with Hashi and Gulaid, Prime Minister Roble urged the leaders to lead efforts to elect a new SIET chairman.
He said that the unilateral appointment of the SIET Chairman should remain in the past.
While meeting the SIET membership, Roble also praised them for “demonstrating maturity and a willingness to work together.”
Prime Minister Roble also asked the members to conduct their electoral duties as a team.
He reminded them of the importance of promoting integrity and transparency in the administration of elections in the breakaway region of Somaliland.
