Senior military commanders from Turkey were at the headquarters of Somalia’s Ministry of Defense for a series of meetings.
The commanders traveled to the defense ministry headquarters in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
They held discussions with Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, the Minister of Defense.
Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Sheikh Muhiyidin, the Somali National Army (SNA) chief, was also present at the meeting with the top commanders of Turkey’s navy and land forces.
The visit and subsequent meetings signify crucial steps in the actualization of the recent defense and economic cooperation agreement that Somalia signed with Turkey.
The agreement, signed last month, seeks to improve Somalia’s military capabilities.
