The decision by the Somali National Army (SNA) to retreat from Galmudug is “strategic.”
Gen. Ibrahim Sheikh Muhydin, the SNA Commander, confirmed this in a briefing with members of the Fourth Estate on Thursday.
He spoke during a visit to Adan Yabaal, where he was with Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
The SNA Commander said that his troops withdrew from five villages in the regional state of Galmudug as a “tactical” move.
“The army will soon launch fresh attacks after this brief period of tactical retreat,” he stated.
