The recent decision by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to ban terrorists’ websites has come under intense criticism.
Last week, the government announced a ban on any website used by Al-Shabaab to disseminate “misinformation.”
However, some media activists have now spoken out against the ban.
They have declared the ban “too broad.”
Furthermore, they also insist that the ban is not based on acceptable and reasonable legal grounds.
The activists added that unscrupulous people could use the ban as “justification to curtail freedom of expression.”
Consequently, they have asked the government to review the ban.
