On Thursday, members of both chambers of the Federal Parliament, senior government officials, and high-ranking officers of the National Armed Forces gathered to pay their respects during the funeral prayer for Colonel Nur Mohamed Gabow, also known as Nur Farey.
As the commander of the 14th October Brigade of the Somali National Army, Colonel Gabow was tragically killed on April 5, 2025, while addressing troops in Lower Shabelle during preparations for an offensive against Al-Shabaab.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud condemned the assassination, describing Colonel Gabow as a “patriotic and devoted soldier” who sacrificed his life for Somalia’s defense.
