Somali President Expected in Minneapolis on Thursday

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia is expected in Minneapolis on Thursday.

The Somali President has been in the United States for much of this week attending the US-Africa Summit in Washington DC.

He is in the US courtesy of an invitation from President Joe Biden.

On December 15, he will deliver a speech at the Minneapolis Convention Center. He was last in the city in 2014.

During his speech at the Minneapolis Convention Center, President Mohamud will talk about the success of the ongoing military operations against Al-Shabaab terrorists in Somalia.

President Mohamud’s speech would also talk about the hunger, starvation, drought, and ongoing humanitarian crises affecting Somalia.

Organizers of the Minneapolis session believe that President Mohamud will take the opportunity to urge Somali Americans to invest in the East African nation.

Minnesota hosts the largest population of Somalis outside the African continent.
