Somalia Increases International Security Ties at 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly

Marrakech, Morocco – Somalia’s Minister of Internal Security from the Federal Government, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag, took part in the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech, where international security leaders addressed global cooperation, preventing cross-border crime, combating scam networks, strengthening police capabilities, enhancing information exchange, and implementing updated INTERPOL protocols.

In the sessions, Fartaag emphasized Somalia’s dedication to expanding its INTERPOL role, promoting international security partnerships, and gaining technical assistance, capacity development, and modern equipment for Somali security forces.

On the conference sidelines, Fartaag, joined by Somalia’s INTERPOL Chief General Mohamed Ali Dhoorre, conducted a bilateral meeting with China’s Vice Minister of Public Security, Mr. Xu Datong. Talks centered on deepening bilateral relations, widening security cooperation, increasing training and equipment support for Somali security entities, and intensifying joint counter-terrorism operations.
