The Federal Republic of Somalia has expressed its appreciation for the mediation efforts led by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, in facilitating dialogue between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Republic of Rwanda.
A few days ago, Emir Al Thani invited Presidents Paul Kagame and Felix Tshisekedi for a meeting they both attended to iron out the differences between their respective nations.
President Tshisekedi has repeatedly accused his Rwandese counterpart of funding the M23 rebels, an accusations that President Kagame has vehemently denied.
Somalia has reiterated its commitment to supporting peaceful resolutions to conflicts and promoting regional stability in the broader East African region.
This statement underscores Somalia’s dedication to fostering diplomacy and cooperation among neighboring nations, aligning with its broader foreign policy goals of peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
