Somalia Condemns Burning of the Quran in Sweden

Somalia has condemned the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran in Sweden.

The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a press statement on January 22 condemning the incident that shocked the rest of the world.

Extremists burned the Holy Book in Stockholm on Saturday, January 21.

Somalia called out Swedish authorities for allowing the extremists to burn the Quran just outside the gates of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm.

The East African nation called the act “a blatant violation of religious sanctities.”

It added that the act was a provocation of Muslims worldwide. Somalia, through the information ministry, called the act “unacceptable.”
