Mogadishu, Somalia – The Federal Republic of Somalia has clarified its position regarding the Western Sahara conflict, asserting that any pronouncements not made through official channels do not represent the country’s stance.
The Foreign Ministry highlighted Somalia’s recognition of UN Security Council Resolution 2797 and expressed support for peaceful resolutions facilitated by the United Nations.
The official declaration urged all parties to the dispute to participate in sincere and direct negotiations with the objective of reaching a conclusive, peaceful, and mutually agreeable resolution in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.
Somalia demonstrated robust backing for the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy in their efforts to restart the political process. The government reiterated its dedication to enhancing collaboration with the Kingdom of Morocco, grounded in mutual respect for national unity and territorial integrity.
